The Ex-President of the Republic of Latvia, Mrs Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, has a firm belief that Latvia must be represented at the EXPO 2010, China. The Ex-President believes that this forum is the right place for Latvia, and that Latvians cannot stay away.  Despite different circumstances and hardships, we have always been capable of overcoming difficulties.  We must do it also this time. No matter what obstacles we face, we have to defeat them. And if we can show that in these hard times we can fly, it is even better for us.

Mrs Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga says that it is important to show to the whole world that we are capable and happy nation which is not only well informed about all the recent technical accomplishments, but which is able to create something novel and unseen. We have the potential of our creative people, and their intelligence, and we must use and show it to the world.

“Latvians have to learn to fly. It is great if our country can offer this opportunity also to the others, and show that everyone can achieve it – everyone can gain happiness, realize one’s intentions, and fulfil their dreams” – this is a very supportive opinion of the Latvia’s former president – Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga.
