The Latvia pavilion at the international exhibition Expo 2010, Shanghai works well, however some minor improvements are needed, the new director of the pavilion, Roberts Stafeckis, admitted to the news portal Delfi.
He underlined that the visitors of the Latvia pavilion marvel over the pavilion, and if we consider all the funds which were invested in the pavilion, the result is of good quality. He said that the pavilion is of high quality for about 90%, nevertheless there is a necessity for the souvenir shop which was planned in the original concept. The opening of the pavilion a month after the opening of the exhibition also has been a drawback.
When he was asked about the conflict between Aerodium and the director of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, Andris Ozols, Stafeckis replied that the visitors most probably do not know anything about it, and that this conflict has not influenced the visitors in any way.
From the very beginning Latvia’s path to the Expo 2010 was scattered with thorns. As late as in winter, the government still was on two minds whether Latvia will participate at Expo 2010 or not. Later problems occurred with the necessary funding, and the construction works of the pavilion also were delayed. Finally, at the beginning of June the conflict between Aerodium and Ozols about bribery and fraud broke out.
